Hospital Stay

Claire got to meet several people that love her very much in her first few hours of life.  Doug and Zona arrived mid morning to meet their newest grandbaby.  Mom brought Greyson and Piper to meet their baby sister around lunch.  Greyson latched on to her and gave her lots of love from the beginning.  Piper was a little unsure of the situation.  She did not know what to think of Mom in the hospital or this new little being.

Not sure if it was because the nursing staff was super busy during our stay or if they thought since it was our third child we had things down, but we did not get the service we had received with previous deliveries.  After the first day in the hospital, I was ready to go home.

I caught Mom off guard by wanting to leave so quickly.  She had planned to shop for Claire that day rather than help us get home.  She went and got her something to wear, but it did not meet her expectations for what a ‘going home’ outfit should be.  We decided she could still get her something special to wear and we would use it for her birth announcement photos.

The car ride from the hospital to the house totaled about 1.5 miles and 3 minutes.  It was good to get home!

Day 6

insert Guinness pictures from day 1

My attempt at portraits

So I needed a recent picture of Piper to include in her birthday invitation so I thought I would try to take them on my own.  Of course Greyson did not want to be left out.   When Greyson was little I thought I could take some decent pictures, but I have not had much luck with Piper.  Here is the final birthday invitation.  You can tell the two on the left were taken by a professional :)

What a weekend – Disaster x4 – Parenthood at its best

So maybe disaster is a strong word, but we definitely had four hiccups.  1.  We kicked the weekend off on Friday evening with a drive to a work BBQ Cook-off in West Arlington.  I underestimated traffic to say the least.  While on the highway, Greyson started saying “I have to go Tee Tee real bad!  Right now!  I have to go!  Right now!”  We tried to convince him he could hold it, but were obviously not successful.  He went in his car seat. 2.  After finding a local Target to buy Greyson some new clothes, we hit the road again to the BBQ.  When we arrived I started getting Greyson’s clothes changed and Paul went to get Piper out.  Well – she had an accident also.  Her diaper had leaked all over her pants.  She went to the BBQ (with my clients and co-workers) without any pants on. 3.  On the way to church this morning I shared my granola bar with Greyson.  He took too big a bite and threw up all over hims...
