Claire’s Debut

Claire’s due date had come and gone.  Our first two children had been a week late so my mom held off on coming in until almost a week past my due date.  Like with Piper, I went into labor the night she arrived.  I labored at home until the pain got pretty bad and then Paul and I loaded up and headed to the hospital.  I expected to be dilated to about a 3-4 cm at check-in, but come to find out, I was already at 7 cm!  We checked in around 4:00 am and I ordered the epidural upon arrival.  After receiving the epidural, we napped for a few hours.  It is absolutely amazing how you can go from being in such pain to being able to sleep like a rock with the help of some drugs.

When they checked me a little after 8:00 am, I was ready to push.  I pushed for about 3 contractions and 15 minutes and our perfect baby girl arrived!

Within a minute of being out, she was laying on my chest and I was in love all over again.  There is no feeling like the joy of giving birth to a sweet baby.

Day 6

insert Guinness pictures from day 1

My attempt at portraits

So I needed a recent picture of Piper to include in her birthday invitation so I thought I would try to take them on my own.  Of course Greyson did not want to be left out.   When Greyson was little I thought I could take some decent pictures, but I have not had much luck with Piper.  Here is the final birthday invitation.  You can tell the two on the left were taken by a professional :)

What a weekend – Disaster x4 – Parenthood at its best

So maybe disaster is a strong word, but we definitely had four hiccups.  1.  We kicked the weekend off on Friday evening with a drive to a work BBQ Cook-off in West Arlington.  I underestimated traffic to say the least.  While on the highway, Greyson started saying “I have to go Tee Tee real bad!  Right now!  I have to go!  Right now!”  We tried to convince him he could hold it, but were obviously not successful.  He went in his car seat. 2.  After finding a local Target to buy Greyson some new clothes, we hit the road again to the BBQ.  When we arrived I started getting Greyson’s clothes changed and Paul went to get Piper out.  Well – she had an accident also.  Her diaper had leaked all over her pants.  She went to the BBQ (with my clients and co-workers) without any pants on. 3.  On the way to church this morning I shared my granola bar with Greyson.  He took too big a bite and threw up all over hims...
