Our Nest is Blessed

On Sunday, March 27, 2011 we got possession of our new home!  This was the first time the kids had seen it.  Paul and I had been packing all weekend while Mom and Dad took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge.  Greyson had two criteria for a new home – stairs and a big pool.  He really wanted us to buy the Hughes house (Julie’s house), but if we could not get Julie’s house, the pool and stairs would suffice.

I had a long list of things that we wanted in a house.  There was no way we were going to get everything, but this house came very close.  It is a 4 BR, 3 1/2 bath, plus game room, media room, and study.  It also has a pool which was not a requirement, but a definite bonus.  Things we wanted but did not get were 3 car garage, 5th bedroom downstairs, and SST appliances.  Media room was not something I wanted, but it is working out great as a media/guest room.

Our friend, Rachel Ellis, was our realtor.  She did a great job helping me sort through the options, prepare offers, and closing the deal.  She also sold our old house and that went smoothly.

We are very blessed and fortunate to have this house as our home! We look forward to making many years of memories in this home.

Monday, March 28th was move day.  The move went pretty smoothly.  We hired a moving company to help and I cannot even begin to imagine trying to move without them.  There were 3 guys and they worked their tales off and were very nice.  The kids went to Marcia’s house like a normal day so that helped too.

The actual move was not too bad.  The hard part was still to come – unpacking and getting everything situated.  That takes months…

Day 6

My attempt at portraits

So I needed a recent picture of Piper to include in her birthday invitation so I thought I would try to take them on my own.  Of course Greyson did not want to be left out.   When Greyson was little I thought I could take some decent pictures, but I have not had much luck with Piper.  Here is the final birthday invitation.  You can tell the two on the left were taken by a professional :)

What a weekend – Disaster x4 – Parenthood at its best

So maybe disaster is a strong word, but we definitely had four hiccups.  1.  We kicked the weekend off on Friday evening with a drive to a work BBQ Cook-off in West Arlington.  I underestimated traffic to say the least.  While on the highway, Greyson started saying “I have to go Tee Tee real bad!  Right now!  I have to go!  Right now!”  We tried to convince him he could hold it, but were obviously not successful.  He went in his car seat. 2.  After finding a local Target to buy Greyson some new clothes, we hit the road again to the BBQ.  When we arrived I started getting Greyson’s clothes changed and Paul went to get Piper out.  Well – she had an accident also.  Her diaper had leaked all over her pants.  She went to the BBQ (with my clients and co-workers) without any pants on. 3.  On the way to church this morning I shared my granola bar with Greyson.  He took too big a bite and threw up all over hims...
