Getting his feet wet

With a beach vacation only a few weeks away, we needed to get Greyson comfortable being in the water.  Julie Hughes taught him a series of 8 swimming lessons.  Greyson loved Julie right from the beginning.

He started off as a great student the first few lessons, but then Julie started asking him to do things like put his face in the water and float on his back.  Those were not so easy.  He was really scared to get water in his ears.

One night while giving him a bath, he had a major breakthrough.  He figured out that getting his face and ears wet was not too bad.  He was so proud, he called Julie to let her know that he would go under water at his next lesson.

From that point forward he did a lot better.  He started trying to swim without the noodle and jumping off the diving board!

By the end, he was doing a ton better.  He is not able to swim without help yet, but he is so much closer than he was!

Day 6

My attempt at portraits

So I needed a recent picture of Piper to include in her birthday invitation so I thought I would try to take them on my own.  Of course Greyson did not want to be left out.   When Greyson was little I thought I could take some decent pictures, but I have not had much luck with Piper.  Here is the final birthday invitation.  You can tell the two on the left were taken by a professional :)

What a weekend – Disaster x4 – Parenthood at its best
